getting white smoke on startup, but goes away after car runs for a few minutes. also smokes a bit when i nail it or when it has been sitting at an idle for a while.

i replaced the head gasket (compression test read 165, 165, 163, 163), no oil in intake manifold, the car is not hard to start up and does not have problems at idle.

my guess is the turbo seals could be going bad? what are some ways to check this?

just reseal it.... it couldn't hurt to do it. if it still does it check for holes in your exhaust it just sounds like moisture getting in somewhere. could also be your headgasket just starting to go

i thought it was the the head gasket at first, so i just put on a cometic about 2 days ago. still the same amount of smoke.

reseal the turbo... let it sit 2 full days before you start it up again. check the exhaust manifold and your whole system for holes.

actually, im gonna take the easy route and swap in another t25 that i know doesnt smoke and see what happens. if no smoke, then im gonna throw a 16g or something on it.

if however, it still smokes after the turbo swap, what else to check?

you should check the exhaust as i said before nad if that somes up clean check the head and make sure no coolant is getting ibto your valvetrain..... i forget what actually breaks when this happens but it's bad

o damn.... my bad...duh... i forgot about the valve seals..... yeah it sounds like you may be getting some oil through your valves just rebuild, port and polish

if it was the turbo i think that car would smoke after spooling and driving for a while not on start up, or at least thats what happened when my turbo seals died

What does the smoke smell like? It should't be coolant if it were then the car would run like shit. I would change the valve seals 1st because the head can stay on the car and the seals themselves are very easy to change. If it still leaks them do a leakdown test.:dsm:
