Thought it was fixed (spark problem, I think)

The other day my car wouldn't start, it would turn over but not start. I take off the fuel return line and I am getting fuel so I figure it is spark. The ECU with key in second position seems to be clicking but I think this is normal

I go to advance and get new wires and plugs, install them and it started right up. Two days later I go out in the morning for work and it started for a second and then died and it would not start again. My valve cover is leaking a little oil by the plug wires. Could this oil be shorting out my spark or is there a biggere problem? I have a new valve cover on the way but want to check to see if this really is the problem since people have told me this would not matter. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Update: Returned wires and got a new set and it turned on again. Drives fine. Anyone know what this could be? Just an intermintent electrical problem? Thanks for any help

Alright after a less than a week with the new wires I started having problems again. Car would start and then die after a minute. My dash lights started flashing and the CEL came on. I didn't have my laptop with me to check the code and when I went back a couple of days later the battery was dead. I have suspected the ECU. Does this seem reasonable? I have sent the ECU and the ISC to Foreign Auto Computer since TechnoMotive reccommends them. I have read that ISCs then to blow out the ECU is this true? Also when I opened the ECU the capacitators looked fine. Thanks for any help

Thanks for the info but i am really trying to find out if the ISC can cause ecu failure and if not what can cause an ecu to fail? Also the symptoms seem similiar to an ecu problem, what do you think?

yeah i have a new one. its wasn't horrible but bad enough. also I wiped off any oil after driving anywhere and i didn't drive more than 5-10 miles. Could this cause an ecu to malfuntion?

not sure on that part..... your headgasket isn't blown too you think is it? (as a side problem to the spark issue) make sure your oil doesn't have a green tint to it (where you pour it in)....

also, i notice youre in fairfax.... and i dont recall if you've ever come out to any of the "dc meets". we just went to hot import nights this past weekend and i suspect another meet will be planned soon. you should check it out when we get plans together in the events forum.

yeah well i'm down at school in Blacksburg at VA Tech, but if I'm up around there during a meet i'll definitely have to check it out. I don't think my headgasket is blown, my compression is good and i haven't been driving my car hard and only at 16 psi, should be running about 20psi.

Do you have any experience with ECU issues? Does this sound like the problem? If so what can cause an ECU to go bad besides leaky caps?
