Few tech issues

Hi all, new DSM owner here. I have a 93 TSI AWD. The 2 things I notice as not normal are as follows: 1. The oil pressure doesnt stay where the manual says it should, above 3000rpm its in the idle zone, and at idle its almost not readable. Bad or failing oil pump? And 2. When I run it hard, it smells like I'm smoking my tires , only when I hit above 5000 or so. Any ideas?

The oil pressure gauge should stay somewhere at or above the first line on the left. Above 3000rpm WHAT Is in the idle zone? Could your smell be clutch? Check your oil ....CONSTANTLY. Nice car by the way, it looks identical to mine.

Yeah found out thats my clutch , oh well time for that ACT-2100! In the idle zone its barley above the 1st, I mean very 1st line, at 3000 its just before the middle line. Now that you say it should be higher I'm getting scared. I need to do an Oil change filter and all. It will have to be next week though. The oil level is right on too. By the way how many quarts of oil does it take? I have a 2.5 in my Fiero and its 4.5 with the big filter. But this has the turbo so its gotta be around 5.5 right? What could cause the low oil pressure? Clogged pickup? This is also the 1st OHC car I've owned, I know I need to change the timing and balance shaft belts, but I have NO knowladge yet of the OHC systems, should I just pay the 600 bucks and have Mitsu do it?
