did you do a timing belt recently.because thats what my car sounded like with a bad hyydraluc tentioner. If the tensioner is bad bhe belt will make the arm on your tensioner pulley slap up and down on top of the hydraulic tensioner.

Most likely a spun bearing. That sounds REALLY bad. The last one I spun it was quiet at idle and then over 2K it would knock super loud, but didnt have any rythm to it. When I tore it apart one of the road bearings was fused on top of the other one. In my first talon almost all the bearings were worn down to nothing and it sounded similar to yours. I can tell you its definetly not lifters. Pull the pan and check for fish scales. GL

Got a Mazda 626 that sounds just like it. Its the rod bearings and the crank will need to be micropolished and I would suggest some beefy oversized bearings.

Well I now know whats wrong...
My brother came over to check it out (he builds engines for cummins).
We unscrewed the oil pressure sensor, unhooked the coil pack, and turned over the engine. Doing that it spit oil out into a clean white cup.
And what we found in the cup was silver and brass metal shavings. Bearings took a crap!
