I recently bought my baby/monster: a 1996 eclipse GS-T, stock (except for some cheep coilovers)
Around 2 weeks after I got it, the bearings in the old stock turbo finally felt a need to give (~100+k miles on the car)
So I bought an EVO 3 16g/manifold/install kit. and an ETS FMIC with Greddy type RS BOV. It took a couple of months to get it all in and I just recently installed the upgrades.
Here is the problem. If I run the car without the VAF plugged up then it runs poorly (to say the least.... smokes, and sputters) but it does build the correct amount of boost and blows off nicely. Once I plug up the VAF the car then runs correctly (no sputter/smoke) but it does not build positive pressure.
I have isolated it to this point. boost one way, plug up the sensor and no boost. I recently saw a check engine light and am going to go check into the code given and attempt to get the codes cleared from the PCM. BUt my question is this: Can some code/error given by the PCM somehow cause the car from building boost? If so please explain.
I am completely open to any suggestions, advice, etc...
Thank you
