Colorado Spring,
Colorado
First off, I have a '97 GSX with a full 6 bolt swap. Major mods are as follows:
BC280 cams
BC springs/retainers
ferrea valves
SCE ICS head gasket
1g rods
2g pistons
14b
TurboXS MBC @ 13psi
EVO 560cc injectors
SAFC2
rewired 190 fuel pump
AEM UEGO
Jack's "economy build" transmission
o2 Dump
ARP head studs
Balance shafts removed
Hall effect CAS
I will start by saying that with in the last week, my coil packs decided to die, so I replaced them with a new 1g coil pack. Shortly after doing this and tuning the car for 13psi with an AFR of 11.1:1 @ WOT, and jumping between 14.4-16:1 AFR @ low throttle, it suddenly started acting like an intercooler pipe was disconnected.
The symptoms can only be described as a heavy stutter/stumble, loss of power, and almost zero throttle response. The AFR would jump from 10:1, all the way off of the lean end of the scale (around 18+:1). I let it sit over night and then repaired and re-installed the old coil packs -- it started right up and idled as it did prior to this whole mess.
I took it out for a quick WOT pull after it warmed up, and the AFR went nuts again, only this time it would stick at about 12.4 or 13:1 at WOT. After that, the idle AFR now jumps around between 11.7 and 16.9:1.
I have done HOURS of reading, and all I can come up with is a possible bad CAS, ECU, TPS, coolant temp sensor, or horribly bad boost leak. I am at a loss... I've got a 600 mile trip scheduled on the 12th, and dyno time reserved tomorrow at noon, and now neither of them are looking at all possible.
If there is any information that I have no provided or you need to know anything else, please let me know. I am a fairly new to tuning, and I do not have a whole lot of experience with the DSM ignition systems either, so please bear with me while I learn.
Thank you for any advice you can provide.
-Clark
P.s. I know that my cams are WAY too big for my current setup, but they were purchased when my stock cams' journals were ruined, and with a future build in mind.
