[RESOLVED] Front of engine smoking

i own a 95 gst and there is white smoke coming from my engine once it warms up.

smoke comes from where the yellow is circled dont realllly know if its under that of right there need help

and yes the check engine light is on

the great AUTOZONE by my house yesterday befor it started smoking said there computer didnt read any problems so they cleared it and it went away for like 5 hours

no smoke or water out of exhaust car sounds fine just smoking out of the engine

scared to drive car back up there now that it is smoking i live in phx az its 110 outside and my car smokes. dont wanna blow anything

its smoke for sure its white and my friend said it smelt like burnigng oil i think it sas a lil sweet smell but it is really light but its a steady smoke

ok so drove it down the road yesterday hoping it was just a bake off ( drove at night coolest time in az) ran fine did not overheat actually staid right in the middle pull up to my house pop the hood and it was smoking like crazy turned her off. (highly frustrated) went in for the night got up this morning extremly early to beat the heat turned her on and no smoke ran for like 20 min then i realized there is this snapping like clicking sound once like every couple minutes so i turned it off. drove it up to the autozone gt the code for my front oxygen sensor is out. any ideas what it is?

Is your valve cover leaking on your exhaust manifold. Or do you have another leak under it getting on the exhaust or burning off your motor? And also does it smoke out of the muffler?

You exhaust manifold is probably cracked. Wait for the car to cool and spray it with WD40, that should make the cracks more visible. If it is crack then you can either get a:
1. New OEM manifold Slowboy Racing, Inc. :: DSM :: Exhaust :: Manifolds / Headers :: SBR
2. FP manifold (I run this one and it's great but you'll need to buy the heat shield for it as well) Forced Performance Turbochargers: FP DSM Race Manifold

5. Have yours repair (not really worth it)
6. Go to a wrecker and get a used one or find one on the classifieds.

If the CEL is on then there is an error code, otherwise it wouldn't come on. Try again.

Are you sure it's coming from the exhaust manifold?

What color is the smoke? How does it smell? Is it steam or smoke?

Burning oil doesn't smell sweet unless you got coolant in it. Coolant smells sweet but it's not smoke. It's steam. Try to narrow down where it's coming from. Take good pictures with better lighting. We'd all like to help but we need more to go on.

The smoke smell sweet huh? hmm and it is coming from the exhaust manifold try changeing the gasket and see if it helps.
First go put on you v/c gasket and come back and let us know what happend.

Have you tried looking at it from underneath to try and find the location? Or maybe find a way to redirect the smoke (shop vac, air compressor) so you can see where it's coming from exactly.

And I would definitely get that code read ASAP. It might give you/us some insight as to what's going on - or another problem that's happening.

I wish I could go help you in person as I'm in Phoenix right now for work. Stupid training taking up ALL of my time.

based off of your pics and it smelling sweet make sure its not leakin from the back of the water pump. its a long coolant pipe that runs in front the engine into the back of the water pump. some times that seal goes bad and it leaks anti freeze from there.

White smoke is generally coolant and may have a sweet smell.

The part you circled in yellow in your picture is where your water pipe meets the water pump. You probably need to replace the o-ring between your water pipe and water pump. My guess is that it is leaking and causing the smoke you see.

FYI - When you replace the o-ring, remember to wet the o-ring with coolant before you install it so that it seals correctly.

ok look at the first post thank you defiant for puttiin everythin together ok so now no smoke got engine cleaner and new exhaust manifold but now there is extremly weird i would say it sounds like a tap every once in a while i narrowed it down its not from the engine but around the manifold and water pump alternator area? could this be bad turbo ?

could be a bad water pump leaking from the back where the pipe seals into it right behind the alternator.

Exhaust leaks can sound like a tapping noise.

got the code from autozone it was my front oxygen sensor... now when i drove it up there my car had this white smoke coming out of the exhaust.... and when th car is in idle it says im pushing boost.... no water in oil dipstick no water drippin out and no tapping noise anymore does anyone know what this is im thinking my turbo went out

pull off the intake and check the turbo for shaftplay.

none upp or down left or right... im thinkin it could be because when the coolant line broke it got in the b.o.v could it seep in and go threw the turbo? or could the oxygen sensor have anything to do with it?
