Hey guys,
I have a vague idea of whats wrong, but maybe someone has an idea or guidance here.
97 GST. 80,XXX miles.
Dry Test (from passenger to driver side)
180 180 150 155
Wet Test (Same)
200 190 185 195
I'm thinking since cylinders 3 and 4 jumped up a good 40 psi each, that I have A.) Blown rings B.) Cracked cylinder Wall or C.) Bad HG on the 3/4 cylinder side maybe mixed with a warped head.
After the test when i started the car to drive it to the dealership (for a leakdown test) i had a puff of white smoke out the tailpipe and it continued to puff out a little white smoke for a good 30 seconds. While idling after and driver i saw 0 white smoke. Was this from pouring oil in the spark plug holes??? I understand a blown HG will make you blow white smoke, but not sure if the cap full of oil could do it to as i haven't seen white smoke before this.
Now, I have an oil leak somewhere up front. My guess is the dipstick. I wrapped the TOP of my dipstick with a papertowel where teh handle is, drove it for 10 minutes under boost. Stopped and noticed the paper towel was 50% saturated with oil. The heat dried it instantly it seems, however oil is there and getting pushed up through the dipstick tube.
Makes me think of increasing crank pressure, meaning it IS the piston rings (or likely related). the rings are bad, causing pressure to seep past the pistons, into the crank, and up through my dipstick.
However, where is the white smoke i noticed comming from?
My oil is a greenish brownish tint also, which MIGHT indicate coolant mixing with it only a little. Full blown HG is a white milkshake color, but mines green/brown with NO bubbles present anywhere on the dipstick.
Car is at the dealership right now and will get a leakdown test performed in the morning. Hopefully they will provide some more insight. What I need from people here is; 1.) What problems you might think it is from experience or encounters and 2.) The time and work involved opposed to what it might cost to have a mechanic do it, for whatever you might propose.
I'm gona buy a cheap commuter car to replace the eclipse as my DD, so pulling/replacing the block might be my option. Thanks guys!!
