ok so recently I have had a problem of the car backfiring at higher rpms. The car pulls hard then once i hit close to the shift point the car back fires and feels like it loses power. What could be causing this? Also it seems to only be happening in lower gears.

Boost leak, running rich while on boost.

Un –burned fuel hits hot exhaust manifold.

Pop, pop, sputter, wife yells something about money pits.

Well that last part may just be me.

Ok so I will do a boost leak test and see if i find anything.

Have a wideband? What are you tuning with? Betting it's running rich in the higher gears and needs to be leaned out.

I have DSMlink for tuning. Did a boost leak test and what do you know had a leak in the coupler where the upper intercooler pipes meet the lower. What a difference after I fixed it i was loosing so much power.
