Yesterday, a friend and I were working on the car installing a EVO III manifold and O2 housing. Well all I know is that as my friend was putting something into place, a wire around the alternator side touched a something on on the alternator side and made a nice big spark. Well now, the car won't start, but when I got to the car in the morning, there was a ticking sound coming from somewhere inside the car, and I think lead to a dead battery. But when the car was working, when you turn the key to the "on" position, all the warning lights don't come on. When you hit the brakes, the stereo shuts off for a second. Automatic seatbelts don't really work anymore. Headlights get stuck in the up position (and I did try to push the "pop-up" button), and won't go down. But all my lights and turn signals work fine on the outside and dash. Even my Defi boost gauge works fine (from what I'm aware of). Somebody please help!!! I love driving my DSM more than my SRT-4. By the way, it is a 1991 Talon TSi FWD with a JDM motor (if that matters any).

I need to do that when I get home. That and a alternator check, to make sure it isn't fried. Was it the alternator wire that sparked?

i popped a fuse that had ignition something or other wrote on it when installing gauges, and the car wouldnt start...popped in a new one and it was all good...i hope thats all it is...big_d :talon::laser::dsm:

It isn't anything that has to do with ignition because the car started just fine yesterday after we finished working on the car. It seems like it could be a fuse or grounding problem???

Ok, I talked to one of my head technician here at Mitsubishi (where I work at), and he said it could be the fuse on the fusible link to the alternator. He said it should be the main fuse that links to the small fuses for the power seat belts, headlights, and other electrical accessories. I will give that a look and get back to you guys. Thanks.

Ok, I got the problem fixed. I went into the fuse box under the hood and changed out the alternator fuse. I didn't think it was going to be that easy. I searched before I posted, but just thought for some reason, that it would be more complicated than it really is. Thanks for your help Sean.
