Problem Shifting To 4th

Hey guys, I took my car to the track the other night and the weirdest thing happened. As I was pulling hard in 3rd gear, I reached 7k and tried to shift into 4th (not close enough to the finish line to stay in 3rd) and the gear kept popping back out. There was no grinding noise or any odd noises. I would put it into 4th and as I let the clutch out, it would pop out. I tried double clutching and that didn't help. When I am just cruising around on the freeway (3500 rpm from 3rd), it will go into 4th just fine. It only seems to have troubles at the higher rpms...do I need a complete trans rebuilt?

Sounds to me like the 4th gear syncro is done.

Yeah i agree with the synchro.

Otherwise i know trucks have this detent system to keep it from popping out of gear but i dont think a dsm has that
