I just want to double check to make sure this is just the battery that is giving me problems.

I replaced my ALT 4 weeks ago with one of "those" warranty ones...

I left town for 2 weeks and come back, put the key in ignition, turn and get that annonying clicking really fast with no cranking....

"I need a jump!"

Well, driving home, my turbo timer is showing very radical jumps from 12.5v to 15.1v. and when I brake or give it gas, the radio pops.

Now, I didn't have time to check fuses or anything, but when I got home and tried to turn it over again this morning...nothing...turbo timer read 12.4v before I tried to crank...

Dead battery or bad fuse?

Thanks guys!

If you are reading 12.5 volts, you don't have a dead battery.

Voltage jumping from 12.5v to 15.1v is a sign of a bad voltage regulator which is inside the alternator. If you got a alternator from autozone/napa etc, it has probably already taken a crap on you.

When you came back into town and your battery was dead, did you charge it from another car? You are never supposed to use an alternator to charge a dead battery, which could be a reason that killed your alternator.

First off, check your cables and terminals, make sure they are all connected. Check to see if they are corroded, if they are, then replace.

check all of your ground straps also because an ungrounded alt or battery will usually cause that kind of poping
