We are finishing up my 6 bolt swap and we went to put my flywheel on... But the damn thing wont go on.. There is something sticking out of the crank that wasn't on the other block i had.. It looks like some sort of shim.. i can not for the life of me get it out.. I've tried heating it, prying it out and vice grips.. What is this and how do i get it out? The pictures below are of the motor that came out of the car, it shows that it does not have this piece and the new block that has this sort of shim that prevents me from mounting the flywheel to the crank..

motor is from an automatic its a spacer for the auto flywheel/flexplate etc. ive never had an issue getting them out using a hammer/screwdriver. Just sorda make a groove so you can get it to spin and it should break it loose, and then it comes out pretty easy. but im sure it can get seized up in there just like every other bolt/part on a dsm LOL. goodluck

I have actually had to grind those off. Some get to the point they will not move. Get a large grinder and grind a little, take some water and cool it off then grind some more. You do not want it to get hot enough to ruin the rear seal.

OK i got it today and tried to install but bolts where to short didn't even make it into the crank. THe bolts came from the dealer MD302 something anyway i need help please. The bearing thing from the crank hits the flywheel, search has shown me pics that the oem has a large hole in the center to accomodate the crank bearing thingy but my fidanza as a finger sized hole .

I did some more searching and found this for those who ever run into this issue http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265038&highlight=flywheel

OK, well i'm defeated i just can't get the damn thing of anybody got any other ideas.

The correct way to remove those spacers is to pack the whole in the middle full of grease and put a wooden rod in it. When you pound on the rod, the spacer will just push out after a few hits. Those are pressed in.
