Yay! Idle Surge!!

I now have a violent idle surge. Took car to JNZ tuning its fine til i get on my street then idle starts surging and a stop sign. Still violently surges. I'm new at this stuff and having lots of trouble.

My idle surge was fixed by rebuilding my TB. Check for boost leaks, check you BISS's o-ring.

Fixed the idle, it's my ISC that is bad. Right now i just have it plugged.

Hi! RT-AWD,

I had exactly the same problem. Idle surge at stop sign, etc.

My lights would also go dim, and my tester suggested a faulty alternator.

At start up, everything OK. When warm at idle revs of 850RPM, surge would start.

I had already replaced the alternator 2 mths earlier.

I spent days checking everything, vacuum, grounds, connectors, ISC.

Finally I took the alternator back to Canadian tire, where they gave it a bench test.

The bench test report showed 14.5V (PASS). I told them it failed when it was warm!

They reluctantly (because of the bench test result) gave me a replacement under warranty.

I installed the new alt and guess what. The surge disappeared, no dim lights, hot or cold.

Now my baby purrs like a kitten.
