Trasmission problem?

Hey, whats up, I don't know to much about transmissions, and I have a Crack in the casing, and It leaks all the Tranny fluid...what are my options to fixing this or do I NEED a new one? Can I weld it til I get the funds for a new one? Thanks any help will be appreciated.

99.9% of the time, the crack came from something being broken on the inside.
Does it make any sounds now that this has happened? Does any of the gears seem different (harder to shift into, etc.)? When did this crack happen and how? Going down the road? Please explain what happened, in detail.
