I have a '97 GS-T with some basic mods and a 14B turbo.
The past few days, my oil pressure had been lower than usual and the car developed a ticking or clicking sound on my way home from work. It sounded like metal on metal clanking and seemed to only happen between 2,000-2,500 rpms, and it sounded like it was coming from the valve cover area. If I had to pick a side I'd say the flywheel/passenger side. The next day I did an oil change with 10W30 synthetic oil and used some Lucas stabilizer as well (I had read on here that the noise may have been lifter tick.) Doing so made the noise a lot less noticeable and it actually went away for a while. I let the car sit and bummed rides for the rest of the day.
Then this morning I needed to use it to pick someone up from the airport and on the way in the car had no power past about 70mph or so. The car felt extremely weak and the clicking noise had come back. The oil pressure and temperature gauges were fine. Once I got off the highway and pushed the clutch in, the car died and wouldn't restart. I pushed it into a parking lot only to find that it was boiling coolant out - fast. About 30 minutes later the car started fine under its own power but still made the noise, so I left the car there and thats about where it sits right now. Any ideas would be great!
Also - it only seems to make the clicking/ticking/clanking when I'm on the gas. Not even accelerating the car, just *on* the gas. Even the slightest pressure on the pedal.
Thanks!
