over the summer i replaced the slave cylinder thinking it was the reason that the clutch engagement was so close to the floor, i replaced the line going to the slave cylinder and still had the same problem still. i remember that when i got the slave cylinder there was a little spring in there with a little plate on the end of it, will i see any difference if i remove that spring and plate setup for more of a free flowing set up. and just to make sure, that little plate goes at the beginning of the threads instead of the bottom right? i have a brand new master cylinder that i want to install but after readinf all the horror stories with the headache trying to set it at the right engagement spot kinda made me want to wait on doing it. If the cap on the master cylinder isnt sealed properly will that affect the operation of the clutch pressure? i always wondered that cause it doesn't lock into place or anything it just pushes on to the reservoir. sorry for all the questions, i just see myself replacing the entire setup including clutch, throw out bearing and flywheel just trying to fix this issue. i haven't ownded this car for a whole year yet and i already feel like that i am ASE certified hahahaha, every dsm owner should get a free ASE certification with ownership of a DSM this is crazy!!!!

The spring and orifice plate are mitsubishi's way of saving us from ourselves.

When you apply the clutch pedal, the fluid will push the plate down, and flow around it, resulting in free fluid flow.

When you release the pedal, the spring will force the plate up and seal it. All the return fluid will have to flow thru the orifice. This will slow clutch engagement during a clutch side step launch, mimimizing parts breakage.

As far as recieving an ase certification for owning a dsm, I think that's a litle farfetched...

Maybe a certificate in alternative communication would be more in order...:sneaky: (the cars create their own adjectives/verbiage in their owners vocabulary...like "rassafrickin' piece of"...)

:tease: Just my opinion, I could be wrong. :p

toybreaker, thanks for the response, i guess you're right, an ASE certification is a little overboard, how about a free AAA membership instead when you buy a DSM?

I have another problem now, i'm on my third hydraulic line going to the slave cylinder, it keeps leaking right at the end of the line where the fitting goes into the banjo fitting on the slave cylinder. when i got the car earlier this year this line held up fine until summer, the line started leaking at the fitting that goes into the slave cylinder banjo fitting. replaced it with a new line from the local mitsu dealership, same problem few months later, i made sure it was tight. now, it's doing it again, and it's a new line, i seen people mention the ss line, is this the line they are talking about? this is so frustrating, i don't know if it keeps doing this cause the line is cheap material or i'm putting too much tension on the line when it's installed or what, how can i keep this from happening? thanks in advance!

thank you so much for the links, i'm gonna do the ss line, this has been so frustrating, i am gonna remove the accumulator also. my final question would be do you or anyone else know what size and style those fittings are on each end of the hose? i've seen them advertised on here, i'm not sure if one is better than the other or not. thanks again!!!:thumb:

when using a new SS line make sure you use the NEW banjo bolt that comes with it.
there is a difference between the oil hole locations (how far below the head of the bolt) between the new one and the stock one so use the new hardware with the new line foor proper installation and use.

yeah but whats a good brand to go with? i see the techna one advertised on here but who has the best one to use for this situation?

ANY IS FINE

go to any vendor and order one.
I got mine from SBR
Easy install, and about 3" of play in the line so you have room in the engin bay to play with.
