okay so i bought a used 6 bolt block, installed it and saw that it was smoking like crazey... compression was 165 165 170 93 so obviously cylinder #1 was the cause of this smoke, pulled the exh mani and saw that the #1 cylinder was pouring oil out of the exhaust... so i stripped her apart honed the cylinders and replaced the rings... and it turned out that cyl #1 had a ring that was broken i 4 places

now before running her i got 130 140 130 130 the rings havent seated so i wasnt worried...

i start her up and imediatley she starts smoking! i figure all new rings smoke a bit so i drive her less than a mile and i couldnt see a damn thing that was behind me there was sooo much smoke... so i quickly returned her home as to not get a ticket... i also noticed no turbo spoool maybe because of so much damn oil?? i dunno

now numbers are 140 140 140 130.. and err my car sounds like a honda

now smoke is escaping through the dipstick tube and through the oil cap, oil is driping through the gaskets on the o2 housing and dripping though my IC pipes! what the hell is wrong with this car? i havent pulled the exhaust manifold yet because its still hot...

this video shows some smoke, which is not nearly as much as when i drive the car...

also the head is abnormaly loud... valve stems seals might be bad?

does the video work? its says its 21 seconds but online its only playing like 1 second.... the file on my computer works fine...

nope thats oil burning, hence the oil covering my turbos exh housing and the oildripping from between the o2-DP gasket

the blue smoke from oil looks white only way i can tell the difference is smell...

I personally have never seen that much oil coming out of the exhaust manifold, but provided something is not physically damaged, the only way I can see you getting oil out there is bad valve guide seals or perhaps the gaps in the rings were not offset properly during installation . . . and a compression of 130/140 sounds a bit low . . . 2gs are supposed to be up in the 180s and I believe 1gs are just a bit lower . . .like maybe 165-170 or so.

So I would suggest a leakdown test . . .

What kind of "noise" are you getting from the head?

He has a 6 bolt so its a 1g motor.Plus he just finished the rering and it may take time for them to seat.It seems like your valve seals are so trashed its letting oil get by there.Ecspecially if its dripping out of your exhaust manifold. You said the head is noisy are all the valves still in tact.

True . . . I was just throwing the numbers up for comparison, didn't know if he had 95 pistons in there or not. As for the valve seals being trashed . . . sounds plausible, but why would there be smoke coming out of the oil dipstick? That would indicate to me excessive blowby . . . which would point to rings.

Either way, it definitely warrants doing a few tests to narrow down the possibilities. Unfortunately for the valve seals, there is no real way to test them other than throwing in a new set and seeing if that does anything.

with the turbo not spooling and oil being burnt i would suspect the turbo to be bad, i just have never seen one leak so much oil before so i would pull the exhaust manifold and see if its wet with oil. if the exhaust manifold is not wet with oil then you turbo is seriously hurting.

the valves themselves seal fine i know, but the valve stem seals could be bad which would be causing excess crank case pressure causing oil to come out of the dipstick and oil cap....
