Im making this post for a friend.
He bought a 91 talon tsi awd with a blown turbo. He bought a rebuilt 14b and installed it in the car. He got the car to run but now he has a few minor/major problems.
I was wondering if maybe you guys might have come across these problems.

Major vibration coming from rear side of engine around the intake manifold area.
He will go WOT and vibration will go away at around 4k rpm and then it feels like the car is hitting limiter by 5k rpm in 1st gear.
In 2nd gear he hits limiter at around 3k rpm.
Im guessing there is a computer problem
What really gets me is that i dont know where all the vibration is coming from. It feels like the the whole engine wants to vibrate out of its mounts. Vibration starts from about 1.5k-4k rpm.
WTF
Please help out thanks.:(

Balance shaft belt is off-timed from the oil pump balance shaft. When doing a timing belt the shaft can be off-timed even though the marks line up. To correctly time it, point the mark on the sproket straight up, if the mark on the belt rotates towards (counter-clockwise) the mark on the oil pump front case (on the engine) it is aligned correctly. If the line rotates away (clockwise) then you need to rotate it one fill turn and try it again. Once it is good, rotate it clockwise towards the mark on the front case (about 1/8 turn or 45 degrees). Then align the rest of the marks accordingly.

Could be. just check it, its easy to get to and is a visual inspection to determine if its bad. However, most likely it is an ignition problem.

The fact that the vibration is during this range, reaffirms that its the oil pump. The oil pump runs along the entire block from timing belt (front side) to transmission side (rear) close to the firewall so that maybe why the sound seems like it is coming from under the intake manifold.

the sound is coming from the intake side around the cam sensor...
Sry but i think u misread.

Or worse yet, maybe some clown cut the front b-shaft belt and left the b-shafts in place.
The front b-shaft will not spin anymore, but the rear b-shaft is still being driven by the oil pump...
This coupled with a possible broken rear motor mount will cause all kinds of noise and vibration especially upon take off from a stop.
