Ok what would be the most likely to happen if i drove my car for a few miles with a bad water pump...would i just be looking at getting the water pump replaced or could it have caused more damage? Might be a dumb question but im very new to dsms.

If the car overheats due to the water pump being toasted i would say that you will probably blow a headgasket. and due some major damage. just find a tow rope and a truck and tow it to your local shop.

As everyone stated...as long as you didn't overheat you're fine. You didn't fill out your profile so I don't know what you have, but if it's the 4G63, now might be the time to also do a timing belt job (every 60K) as the TB has to be removed to get at the water pump.

I'm not sure of the process on the 420A as to whether or not the TB is removed to get at the water pump.
