alright i did a search on this and couldnt find my exact problem. so here it is

When i start up my car after running it pretty hard in boost and then shutting it off after cool down time and then go to restart it, The car pulls vacuum (-10 on autometer gauge) and just pukes out bluish white smoke untill i start driving it or rev it up. Then at idle it will smoke a little bit but as soon as the vacuum goes back down to normal (-15psi) it doesnt smoke at all. It kinda stutters when it is smoking. But while in boost range it doesnt smoke or anything of the sort and pulls hard as hell.

Now i am at 18psi, with a mixture of 2.2 gallons of cam2 (110octane) and about 6 gallons of 91 octane.

This is the first time the car started doing this after i put the race gas in, so now i am confused. Any info would be appreciated.

also the smoke smells more like gas/oil than coolant. but there is a little coolant smell but not from the exhaust but from under the hood.

Headgasket, 2 exhaust valves, and timing were changed less than 4000 miles ago.

alright it pulls -17psi at idle and has a pretty bad miss in it and there was a small bit of oil on the valve cover. So i am lost

You may need a rebuild on your head, my 1992Tsi at the track would be fine the first run and while waiting for another it would smoke a bit, when i would prep for launch bouncing it at 4-5500k it would make a huge cloud behind me of bluish smoke. As soon as i launched the smoke would go away and my run would be fine. I ended up just rebuilding my entire engine after i pulled the head.

Does the car use up excessive oil between changes?

Also, cooling the car down could cause your worn valve seals to contract which would make them less effective and allow oil to get into the engine for when you start it up next.

Possibly a thicker oil could help reduce the smoke as well.

Try to find where the oil on your valve cover is coming from, that could lead you in the right direction too.

no the car barely uses any oil at all, maybe a half quart to a quart.

also the power steering belt failed yesterday and blew apart.

That just strikes me as funny.

But I'd start with a leak down test if possible. It will tell you where you're leaking oil, but it's most likely your head as stated above.

I would bet on Valve stem seals/head. Also it is possible to have this from your turbo as well if it's starting to go.

If you have tightened down the valve cover bolts too tight, it is very possible to crack the inside of the cover *snapping the bottom of the bolt hole right into your head.* Check your Oil cap to see if it's sealing or if it is worn, also check your valve cover gasket to see if that is again worn around the plugs as well as around the edge. If you have an open filter for the catch, that might be a source of a small bit of oil as well.

i did notice alot of oil underneath my pcv valve also.

well i figured out the problem. The new headgasket went POOF!!

When you replace it, be sure to find out what caused it to fail in the first place. Often it's a tune that's too aggressive or a problem with the installation.

Keep us posted and good luck,

Andy

I think it was a problem with installation and poor maintainence by the previous owner. It was a cheaply done headgasket job reusing as many parts as possible. So now its time to get it fixed right!
