I replaced the spark plugs and the valve cover gasket and i still dont know what it is so please someone help me cz i gotta fix this!!! thank you

I would start out by giving your car a complete tuneup, change all filters, all fluids and everything, pcv valve, cleaning out your airbox.

Do you have a check engine light on?

Yes the CEL is on. It just came on like three days ago, but the problem has been for like 2 weeks now. I'm going to autozone today to have them scan my car so i can get the code. Is it hard to fix the things you listed? can i do it myself and how much do you think it will cost? thanks bro

Sounds like the engine is starving for fuel or air.

Check the following 3 things.

1- Fuel filter - Changing it will take you about 30 minutes and cost about $25, of course go buy a service manual, Haynes or Chilton for about $25

2- Check air intake system - Check the air filter and replace if its all clogged up. Check all connections (hoses) going from the airbox to the throttle body making sure there are no major leaks.

3- Check the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor) - It should be placed immediately after the airbox on the throttle body side. Make sure its plugged in and see if you can replace it with a good one (if you have a buddy with one try that if not they are about $75 - $100 at a local parts store)

After that we can look at compression and all that fun stuff, but if you can, get that code read, it'll help us out to point you in the right direction.

Hope this helps.

I would rather see you spend your 25bucks on a OEM manual. The chilton and haynes manuals tend to summerize important things that could help you while diagnosing. You can usually find them on ebay. Or you could get an OEM manual on cd. It definately sounds like a fuel filter problem. Once you remove the fuel filter try and blow through it in the direction of flow. This should be marked on the fuel filter itself. If you feel restriction, replace the filter with a new one.

The code came out to be P0302 Misfire Detected - Cylinder 2. So now what, i ave a friend who is telling me to replace my distributer cap and rotor or something like that so tell me if thats right or if i should do something else.

If you can, get a compression test done to see how cylinder 2 is looking. you can do it yourself if you buy a tester for about $25 at a local parts store.

I'd also check the coil packs and resistor pack and make sure they are within specs, if not, replace. (buy a haynes or chilton manual folr $25 it'll help you out greatly)

Then, I'd check the plugs and make sure they are gapped at .0028 then change the wires with another set just to make sure.

If it's localized to cylinder 2 it'll be easier to figure out :)

Let me know when those tests are done and we'll take it from there!

Cheers.

Not on an N/T they're not. I used to gap mine at .050...

FYI, there's no MAF on an N/T. These motors use a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor instead. Don't feel bad though. I made the SAME mistake a week ago!
