Well, the other day I was doing a boost leak test and I left for a few minutes to ride my bike. I couldn't resist it was a beautiful day. Anyway I left the hood open and the intake pipe off, and I think someone possibly a friend playing a joke put something inside the turbo's housing. Well me being me I didn't check to see if the intake and turbo were clear before I put it all back together and BAM! ruined turbo. About 2 days later I pulled a silver dollar sized piece of thick rubber out of the turbo, all the fins are bent and it now sounds like a toy car when boosting. It also runs poorly, so my question is what other damage could have been done? and is the running poorly because of this or did the dsm gods grant me with another problem at the same time? sorry for the lengthy post, just trying to get some info before I start replacing things.

If any of the fins broke, your engine could have ingested some metal shavings. Or maybe your intercooler is now full of oil/metal.

some friend....

i hope he's a good enough friend to help pay for the repairs.

Im sure if some of the rubber pieces did get forced into the engine, it could have done some nice damage to valves, pistons, all sorts of things. Especially if it were a cold engine.

Yeah, who knows its doubtful he'll even own up to it, but the engine wasn't coldnt, and I'm hoping nothing got in there. But if it did it's just a good excuse to build a motor for it.
