Hey i have a 92 laser awd turbo about 3 weeks ago my check engine light came on suddenly car ran horrible bad gas mileage no power running pig rich so i changed the o2 sensor didnt help so someone told me to change the engine coolant temp sensor...no help so i took it to a shop to hook it up to the computer and they told me it was my mass airfloe sensor so i bought on off of ebay hooked it up and no difference so the next day i was driving home got there stayed home for ###### 4 hours went out and car ran perfect so i didnt think nothin of it well a few days agao check engine light came on again and same things runs crappy no power bad gas like 4 gallons 30 miles.....i have no clue what to do i went threw and check hoses and everything.....when i reset the ecu then start it it runs awesome for like 10. min then the engine light comes on and runs like shit....thanks alot guys
 
You've received some good advice from the above two posters. Pull the ECU and check for a rotten egg smell that would indicate leaking caps and definitely get the rest of the codes read. If you don't have a code reader or a logger, your local AutoZone will do this for free.

well i havent been on in awhile so heres an update....turns out my ecu had a cap that was leaking so i finally got them in and took my ecu to a kid i kno and he fixed it put new one in etc......so i finally got it back today and hooked it up car still doesnt have all the power and once again check engine flickers then goes off and is now on again and car like horrible just like before....please help i am losing my mind over this thing thanks alot....
 
When the ecu caps fail, they can leak an electrolytic goo on the board. This goo can, and will, ruinate the traces on the board. When replacing the caps, someone who is famaliar with the failure will know to look for this. Sometimes it is overlooked. This means there could still be a problem with your ecu.

My suggestion would be to swap ecus with a buddy.

If your ecu runs his car, you know your ecu is good to go, and the problem lies elsewhere on your car.

If his ecu runs your car, and yours doesn't run his, or has the same issues it did in your car, you know your ecu was bad, and you're just a replacement ecu away from motoring bliss.

Try that, it's the easiest way I've found to narrow down wierd ecu issues.
