Since I took my car out of storage in May, it's been making a funny howling noise coming from the front passenger side whenever the car is in gear and moving. When I let off the throttle and it starts to coast, the noise gets louder and when I step on the throttle it gets louder. The sound is not very noticeable when there is little power/force applied to the car in either direction. The sound doesn't seem to change pitch with RPMs but I have a loud exhaust so I might be missing it...
The really interesting part happened tonight: I was coasting at about 5 mph when I tried putting it into 1st gear. Since it wasn't in gear, there was no sound but when I got it half way into gear (past the synchros I guess?) it sounded almost like a bad bearing going from not spinning to spinning, then the usual grinding/spinning sound mentioned above.
What does this sound like to all of you ladies and gents?
