Car issues

Hey guys i have a 92 awd turbo laser like a week ago i went out to start it and it wouldnt start it just kept cranking so finally it started and fumbled around i hit the gas and it died then my check engine light came on the car has no power and is getting horrible gas mileage....everytime i hit the gas it dies right down so i took it to a local shop and they hooked it up to the computer and he told me it was my maf that was bad so i got one off of ebay hooked it up and it was still hard to start so i pulled the plugs and they were black and smelled like gas so i changed them and the car started but still when u hit the gas it dies and still has some trouble starting and still has no power so i pulled the new plugs out and they were quite black i was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and could help me out.....thanks alot

p.s i am going to do a boost leak test tonight
