I just bought a aftermarket steeringwheel and on installing it i sorta stripped the steering column bolt and nut.. i might have overtorqued it... any way.. i really dont' feel like replacing the whole steering column assembly.. would it work if i were to rethread the bolt itself?

sorry not the steering column.. its the bolt that holds the steering wheel in place... i stripped the nut and bolt...

Oh damn! Are there still threads at the top/end of the bolt? If so, get a new nut and some washers to space the nut out where the treads are still good. Will that work for you?
BTW. It's 33 foot lbs. I had mine off 3 weeks ago.

no threads at the top of the bolt but some in the middle and end.. i used the same nut and some washers and it seems to hold very snuggly but i still think i should rethread it or at least get a new nut for it.

the bolt/threads you are talking about is very soft. Mine did the same thing I had to buy a die nut and make new threads. After that it went right on...

Those steering wheels are a pain to get on. A new Steering column would be a pain to track down as well as pretty penny to replace. If you don't know how to rethread it; go to shop that could do it. It would be easier in the long run.
