ECU not talking to obdII

The ECU won't talk to OBDII. Car runs great, first test showed no codes. Now i can't get obdII to read any thing, won't show ready codes for smog check. Shows "not available" or Not ready when plugged in.:

Is something wrong with the scanner you are trying to use?

Make sure your OBDII connector still has +12V on pin 16 and pins 4 & 5 go to ground. Pin 1 is on the left of the long side, pin 16 right of the shorter side.
