What should I use loctite on when assembling the longblock?

I am going to be getting my new shortblock from engintecs real soon now. I was wondering what i should use loctite or any other thread sealing type sealants on? Should I put loctite on my oil pump bolts, front case bolts, rear main seal cover bolts? I am just wondering if it is a good idea to do. When I took my original shortblock apart, I dont think there was any loctite on anythin except for the flywheel bolts, which I did when i put my new clutch in. I would think if there was loctite on anything it would have been a little harder to disassemble. About my oil pump and front casing? Should I use a sealnt for the threads or anything or will they be fine just to tourque them down to specs?

Let me know what you guys think,
Anthony

use locktite on oil pump sprocket nut,use black rtv sealant on auto tensioner bolts and on water pump bolts.

Loc-tite is cool stuff.

Used sparingly, it can pay great divedends in keeping things together.

There are several grades available.

I would be really carefull about using the high strength (red) or the stud and bearing lock, (green). Either of those grades used on a 6mm (ten mm head) bolt can cause hardware failure if you need to dissassemble anything in the future, and can even make even 8mm (12mm head) hardware somewhat risky to remove. If you really want a bolt to stay put, the red will most definately keep it from coming loose in service.

The medium strength (blue) will cover most aplications you would be considering using any thread locker on.

There is also a low strength (purple) that works really well on the smaller hardware and/or stuff you know you'll have apart again.

The purple also works really well on some stuff that's hard to seal, like the turbo oil line banjo bolt on the head. Just coat the copper washers with a VERY thin layer, and assemble to the correct torque. I don't even put any on the banjo bolt itself, just the washers, and I've never had one leak.

Good luck! and remember, the hardware AND the hole have to be clean and oil free for loc-tite to work.

I had my bolts back out on my trans case that wasn't lock tited. I would lock tite every bolt to not deal with the grief of it backing out. Also I found from Turbo Dodges that locktite prevents corrosion in steel bolts put into alminum parts for easier disassembly. Use it on everything.
