Current mods are listed on my profile, car has 57xxx factory miles. I bought the car with 52xxx miles.

The car had a new stock clutch installed at 42,000 miles. The flywheel was resurfaced and the clutch master cyl was replaced. Before I installed the Apex'i N1 I replaced the clutch slave cyl since it was leaking.

I do NOT have a boost gauge or a boost controller and I have no idea how much boost I'm running. I know that if I run over 15psi, the clutch will go out eventually, but I'm nore sure if my problem is due to my car running higher than 15psi boost. My next mod is a speedhut boost gauge and hallman boost controller.

I bought my Apex'i N1 catback about 2 months ago. After I installed it, it seems like I have a lot of low end torque. If I launch my car at 2500RPMs, it launches good, but if I launch it at 4500RPMs I can smell my clutch/flywheel burning after the launch. Is this normal??

I normally let the car sit for 10-15 minutes to cool down after I do a 4500RPM launch. Any ideas?

Yeah thats normal when your launching at those rpm's, with a stock clutch since it can not hold up to that kind of abuse, your probably going to need a clutch soon.
Goodluck

So I just did my first 4500/5000 rpm launch with my new setup, 50trim and all, and I got

the same smell but my clutch is a Centerforce Dual Friction with about 40k miles on it.

Is this normal for most all clutches with launches at higher rpm's or could this indicate

that my clutch might be dieing on me?

Yes it is normal since you are burning up the stock clutch. Id recommend a more high performance clutch.

I am having the same smell and I have some smoke that forms. I usually don't launch my car specially at high rpm but some bmw thought he was hot shit with his gf in the car. So I launched around 4500ish and the car took off but the rpm stayed at the same spot and it sounded like it was bogging down so I left off the gas then punched it again and everything was fine. I have a new trans and clutch with about 8k miles on it. Is this normal or should I be worried? I have had no other problems with the clutch it seems to pull good in all gears and never pops out on me or anything.

The burnt smell is totally normal for that kind of abuse. The oem clutch pressure plate and disc are designed to work well for everyday stop and go traffic driving. The oem disc wasn't designed to do any launching, especially 4.5k launches. The stock disc just can't handle the abuse that a high friction ceramic/kevlar disc can. If it weren't for your car having a new clutch recently it would certainly come apart. :D, I know from experience. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, all it's gonna do is fry the disc, maybe warp the pressure plate a little. You will swap it out eventually i'm sure so that will all be replaced.

To be honest, no clutch disc short of a 4 or 6 puck will ever be able to handle that kind of abuse without giving.

Dude, this thread is 2 years old. :| But I now run an ACT2100 with a 6 puck sprung hub disc. :D

OhOMG, shows how much attention I'm paying, doesn't it. It was back up with new posts and I didn't pay any attention to when you started it. Sorry. :D
