Well i just got back from the drag strip and i am very dissapointed. I have installed a evo3 16g turbo on my 2g gsx and i ran a 10.5 @ 72mph in a 1/8 mile :barf: . I ran a 9.5 with my t25 in an 1/8th mile. i can barely build any boost on the line (automatic trans). With the t25 i could power brake up to about 8 or 9psi and then take off. With the evo3 i couldnt even get it to 4psi with the gas to the floor nearly, and when it took of it felt super slow and took forever to actually get up to 14psi. i have noticed my bov fluttering lately but would that cause so much trouble building boost. any help would be great because im am just very confused about what is going on with my car.
 
The key is a high stall converter from ipt. :D :thumb: Either that or a little nitrous, but I would suggest the high stall, just got mine in a few weeks ago.
 
But even with the stock converter it shouldnt run slower than it di with the t25 should it? I mean its like its really slow building boost.
 
how much would a high stall converter pick up my time. should it help significantly or just some.
 
i mean could that really cause me to run that much worse with a bigger turbo. i ran a hole second slower on a the new turbo than on the old t25. but i guess maybe thats a hidden disadvantage of the auto trans. but i think i also might have a boost leak or my bov might be leaking because when i let off the gas instead of a crisp pssst like i used to get i get more like a pssst pssst pssst it sounds really strange.
 
that sounds really good i guess i need to look into getting one of those. Thats gonna be alot of money for me to save but i guess if thats what i have to do i will just have to because those times are just horrible and a high stall converter would help me to take full advantage of the turbo. i still think im going to also check for boost leaks and also maybe replace the bov with a better unit aswell. because boost is building very slow even after takeoff and is not very stable.
 
yeah thats the one on ipt that you send in the old one out of your car as a core exchange i think. well i guess ill start saving for that which will take me a while since im a high school student on a part time job. I guess its well worth it though because times like that are not only embarrasing but i wont accept them with a car with the potential of a dsm. if only i would have known this before i would have done the converter before the turbo. i guess all the stuff i read about how great of an improvement the evo3 16g was is in a manual. but i know i sound like a broken record but does any of the things ive described sound like a boost leak possibly also. what would a leaky bov do to hurt performance? i know these sound like dumb questions but im new to this whole bigger turbo thing. also the converter makes sense because at a roll the car will pull very hard just not from a stop.
