two weeks ago my car got broken into. passenger glass was broken. the door locks were never the same after that. finally after reading more than enough past threads and pleading with one guy for some help, i stumbled upon some useful info. called the dealer and i found out my car did come with an alarm. a previous customer with my problem paid $400 to fix it and that was all i needed to hear to start tearing shit apart.
well the remote is working again, but the passenger is still not being a team player. my guess is some glass got in the door lock actuator or door lock assembly. atleast i hope that is the problem. also the is a greenish-yellow clip that clips on the door lock cylinder. its only visible after tthe door panel is removed and it works with the remote/alarm system. yeah, well a peice of that broke off as well....maybe epoxy or crazy glue will help.

any help offered is help to me. but i do appreciate the past threads. to all newbies.THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE....(i need to stop watching tv

Same thing happenned to me. Except I couldnt open my door because there was glass stuck in the lock assembly ... long story short I had to remove thedoor panel with the door closed.... and I managed it somehow.... but anyways...

yeah, glass has a bad habit of finding it's way into the worst places, in my experience (2 broken windows) glass likes to hide behind the white plastic cover on the handle side of the door; mid-door high.

As for the broken green plastic clip.... Also happenned to me, electrical tape way my fix.

If you need any more help let me know, I see we both live in the brew city.

i don't know how u got it outta there WITH THE DOOR CLOSED, but as it turns out i have the same problem....glass in the assembly. i'm off work thursday-saturday so it's gotta be done before i get my new glass in there. today i'm looking for some how-to thread with pictures i found last week because i'm not goin in blind. any assistance would be greatly appreciated. by the way, i work for checker auto if you need my discount....thanks for the response.

I'm not clear what the problem is. "It", "same problem", isn't helping.

Are you saying you can't open the door either from the inside or the outside because of glass in the mechanisims?

Cheers,

I believe what he's saying is that the door handle/lock assembly works rough and probably on and off. I would assume it takes multiple trys to open or lock/unlock doors sometimes.

Which would indicate a faulty actuator. It doesn't nessicarily mean there is glass stuck in there, it may mean it's on it's way out, or it's not properly secured to the door anymore.

It is highly unusual for both inside and outside handles to fail inside the latching / striker mechanism so you can get trapped inside a car. I've had to make special crevice tools that will fit between the outer door skin and the door panel to vacuum out pieces. Long serewdrivers, wooden dowels anything that can dislodge glass. If the window was tinted with film there may be sizeable pieces that will have to be attacked. Sometimes slapping the door or panel will knock pieces loose, coat hanger wire to trip the latch if handles have been abused and/or lost their throw. Use a small flashlight so you can see inside and not get blinded by surrounding light.

Agreed!! When my passenger window was broken (twice) there was glass everywhere, it took me the better half of an hour to clean up all the glass. The actuator theory also doesn't ring too clear in my book because it's highly unlikely the actuator would go directly after the window was broken and replaced. :thumb: Sounds like a good plan GTM
