help please

ok so here is my dihlema so i have white smoke comming from my exaust & irregular idle @ times. i just did a compression test & the results were 180-180-180-180 now wouldnt my compression #'s be off if it was my head gasket? or is there anything else i can do to be 100% sure it is the head gasket? also i didnt see any oil in my coolant if that helps & yes it is the 420A motor so please be nice

Well, is it a constant white smoke? Or does it only do it at a certain point and then quit? I don't think there's enough detail to really diagnose anything.

Well, a blown headgasket or a completely demolished turbo will pour white smoke, but that's normally a pretty constant flow. If you can get your hands on one, do a leakdown test and see what happens.

With those compression numbers I dont think its a headgasket. But here are some other things to look at: Check your oil to see if you are getting coolant in your oil. I know you said you had no oil in your coolant but some of our race motors have had issues where the contamination will be in one but not the other. In addition when your car is cool take the radiator cap off and then start the car and let it idle. If you see any major pulsating then you more than likely have a busted HG.

ok thanks for all the replies i dont think i can do the last test i have already started taking the motor apart so i guess i have to just cross my fingers & bank on the fact that the 420a in known for the HG issue.....if not well at least the head gasket will be done & while i am in there i might have to do some mdding cams & lash adjusters i hear they have some phantom knock to them who knows
