I have a 98 eclipse with a 4g63. Looks like I had the wires mixed up. The final solution was this: The resisters started smoking so I got to thinking, my o2 sensor is still in the exhaust, so i wired up the heater circuit to the 02 sensor and the sensor wires to the simulator. Worked great. Thanks alot for the help. Its greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have an 02 simulator from summit racing. It only simulates a signal to the ecu, it does not bypass the heater element. I wired in a 12 ohm resister in the heater element but my engine light is still coming on for a heater element issue. The wiring is as follows:

Funct.-------Colors from car:----Colors on Simulator:

Sensor------White---------------->Purple
Hot Wire----Red------------------>Red
Heater------Black----->12ohm->Yellow
Heater------Yellow---->12ohm->Black

The simulator only has 3 colors, purple, red and brown, the directions said nothing about the yellow wire. My wire colors are not the same as the wires on VFAQ. I used the harness that plugged into the o2 sensor before it was removed so I know i am working with the harness. For the 12ohm resister I used a 10ohm and two 1 ohm resisters wired in series. They are the block style resisters from radio shack. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem so I can be check engine light free? If I cant bypass the heater with my simulator and I do it VFAQ style, would I put the 12ohm resister between the black and yellow? Thanks in advance. -Brian

To help you we need to know what year/engine you have so fill out your vehicle profile.

I think you have your wires mixed up. Here is what I tell people trying to hook up a real O2 - it may help you:

For 1g:
(From DSM Backup manual for 91 DOHC turbo)
The harness side round connector has pin 1 in upper left, 2 upper right, 3 lower left, 4 lower right.
Harness side: red (pin 3 - goes to mpi relay) and black (pin 4 - goes to ground) are the heaters. Black (pin 2 - goes to ground) is signal ground and white (pin 1 - goes to ECU pin 4) is signal.
Sensor side: Every after market O2 has different color wires. The 2 same color wires, usually white (but sometimes black), are the heaters (go either way - they measure about 12 ohms so you can easily find them even if they are not the same color). The other 2 are the signal and signal ground wires. If black and grey, try the harness black to sensor black and harness white to sensor grey. If it doesn't work reverse these two. If you have 2 blacks, a blue, and a white, see here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=48046

For 2g:
(I can tell you what the 97-99 has. 95 is probably the same.)
Harness side: Red and yellow (red and yellow/black for rear O2) are the heaters. White is signal and black is signal ground. The connectors are different and have different pins.
Sensor side: Every after market O2 has different color wires. If you have 2 same color wires, they are usually the heaters (go either way - they measure about 12 ohms so you can easily find them even if they are not the same color). The other 2 are the signal and signal ground wires. If one is black it's usually signal ground (so the other is the signal). If that doesn't work reverse them.

subscribe. When I did this the way I got a nice smoke show. I will now work from the harness side to see if that helps.

EDIT , any special way to sauder those in there ? Do I want to get the thick wire inside of all the little wires together or just get everything together?
