I searched around and only found how to test a non 90 coilpack. what is the procedure for testing a 90 coilpack? Is there a site or someone who has pics? Also, if I need to replace my CAS, do I need a 90 or any 1g?

Do you have any spark at all on either coil pack??? If not then it is probably not your coil pack, it would be more likely your cas or ignition transistor. You have to use a 90 cas on a 90 car.

Here's what the 1990 FSM has to say about coil resistance:

I can get you more detailed info a bit later if you need it. My good (complete) set of manuals are at home.

alright im haveing the same problem.I have a92 talon gst...My plug for my coilpack looks like a tryangle, how do i test to see if it is receving a signal,,I dont know if this is a stupid ?...but can anybody help me....

There are no stupid questions around here ;)
(Well.......Maybe not.....LOL)

On a 91+, you check the resistance in a different way.
Hook the negative probe to the coilpack body, and the positive probe to the #1 terminal (top left of your "triangle" plug). You should see infinite (or almost infinite) resistance here (in fact, this is the same as the 1990 model. The way yours differs is in the next step).

Next, connect the probes to terminals 2 and 3 - you are looking for a little less than 1 ohm here (I believe the technical specs are like 0.75 - 0.95 ohms on a 1991, and 0.70 - 0.85 on a 1992+). To check secondary resistance, connect the probes to #1 and #3. Resistance should be much higher here - infinite or almost infinite. Specs for 1990 + 1991: 10,300Ohms - 13,900Ohms - Specs for 1992+: 11,300Ohms - 15,300Ohms.

Edit-- Guys! Remember to disconnect the neg battery terminal while you're doing this! Safety first ;)

what should the primary and secondary voltage range be?

Voltage range?
Enough to send you to the hospital. Please don't try to check the voltage at your coil pack OMG .

Primary and secondary RESISTANCE on a 1990:
Primary: 0.77 - 0.95
Secondary: 10,300 - 13,900
