Okay, before you scream and say "search" to me, yes, I already have and nothing has solved my problem, i just need to know if my BOV is crapped or not

No matter what im getting compressor surge (it waddling sound when i let off)
I can hear air being sucked through the BOV at idle (is this the diaphragm leaking?)
was fine when I was VTA, but now that i am recirculating, it won't perform.

What the hell is going on? i've adjusted the thing for 12 hours straight and nothing puts it right, I tried covering the lower nipple, connecting it to a boost source, and leaving it open, NOTHING FRIGGIN WORKS!!! please help!

Take the top off and try removing the middle spring of the two springs in there. And then go back to adjusting the BOV. It has helped some. Trial and error goes along ways with the adjustable BOVs.

I agree with black94dsm, take off the top and remove the smaller spring then readjust from there. Is the air being sucked in from the lower nipple or the bov outlet. It is possible you tore the diaphram which you can also visually inspect when you take the top off to remove the spring.

Yes the air is being sucked in through the lower nipple, does that mean the diaphragm is torn?

That is most likely the case, the lower nipple is from a boost source and is used to push up. If air is coming out of it at idle the there is probably a tear, but the only way o be sure is to pull it out and look.

Well, I'll give my input, for you open the BOV and f*ck it up.

The upper nipple is used to activate the BOV, the lower is not used on our cars... at ALL.

I suggest loosening the adjustment all the way out. And either take a vacuum pump or use your mouth or and see if it opens. The Type S is soft enough that by you sucking on the nipple a few hard times it will open. I kow cause I did this to mine. My bet is it's a vacuum problem, as I had this problem on my stock one.

On another note, unless your got your boost gauge tapped into the IC piping (before the throttle body) you should not know that you are getting compressor surge. Your boost gauge should be tapped into the fuel regulator gauge, which would read vacuum while your IC tract is over pressurizing. How can you tell your are getting compressor surge?

**edit** your profile says you have a knock-off type-S, if this is the cause, then you can see why it costs $40, while a new one cost $180-$200.

Ahhh, I didnt see that you had a knock off, that thing leaks at every angle.

Go through this thread:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=200908

and look at all my pictures and explainations on how to mod the knock off to be just as good as the real type-S. Also notice at the end the ripped diaphram which happens within a month or two on the knock off. It will cost you the cost of the real greddy diaphram and some nuts and bolts to have it up to par, Ive been running my modded bov a while now at 20psi with no problem.

okay okay, well poo! i'll dump the damn money for a real one, cause mine is pulling vacuum as well... and I can hear the air go back out the intake like everyone else reports as well, /smack self
Thanks guys, have had good luck with other off-brands, just not this BOV... can't win em all :(
