ok i just installed the xs power fmic kit.. once i hit boost there is a loud shreiking noise and then i quickly proceed to hit fuel cut at .9 bar. also under WOT i am running rich enough to be blowing black smoke out of my exhaust.. any suggestions?

Definately run a boost leak test. Make sure all couplers are fitted correctly. XS power kits off of ebay are terrible. The piping isn't beaded on the end's to prevent leaks and couplers blowing off. Plus I don't imagine the core is none to efficient either.

well i have heard no complaints about the kit and my pipes were definetly beaded on the ends. do you personally have a xs kit? i figured it was a boost leak but wanted to start this thread to see if there was a possibility it was anything else. don't know if this is related of not but i threw a code that said mas reading detect but higher than expected.. is this at all related?

No I don't have one. I know there old one's didn't used to be beaded but I am glad to see they rolled there ends. As far as the code, When the MAF reads to much air, that is what causes fuel cut. The MAF reads to much air, but the air isn't getting to the motor so you are pulling in more air than what you need because some of it is leaking off and finally it just hits a point where is won't read anymore Hz. So yes it is all related to a boost leak. Pressurize the system and see where is leaks from.

^^^ awesome that confirms my thought. now i have one big problem: where can i find a valve stem to fit onto the boost leak tester because mine broke.

well i tryed the tubeless valves and no matter how much pressure i push through they won't work.. i looked at the vfaq and couldn't find a valve that looked like that

I have a coupler on my boost leak tester that just plugs into my air hose like what is on the end of an impact gun.

ok.. updates. car runs but doesn't boost. fixed about 10 leaks. the tb elbow is at hayden's being machined.
