Well, after having all my valves replaced, new seals, and a multi layer head gasket installed back in November I figured my car was good to go as far as maintenance. About 1000 miles of driving after getting her back I noticed my oil light was flickering on and off and my dipstick was dry as a desert. I decided to head down to my local auto store and pick up 3 quarts of mobil 1 synthetic (what i've been using for all of my oil changes) to add. Well, it ran fine for about 300 miles. Then, on Christmas Eve while I was doing normal around town at 30mph driving I pushed the clutch down to change gears and the rpm's dropped to 0 and the car died. I coasted into a spot and started her up again. Now, before I started on my trip I noticed the car had a very low idle on startup but other than that everything was fine. The car would go into gear and when I would try to get her moving it would die. I left her in the spot and walked it home
The next day I went back and noticed after starting up the car a very loud knocking noise that got louder with an increase in rpm's. I had it AAA'd to my house. A week later I had my mechanic look at it and gave me the bad news. Apparently, he never has used synthetic on my car (which I though he told me he did) and told me that the mix of regular oil that was in my car from the head rebuild and the synthetic I had put in earlier had caused the block to go bad. Now, is this the real reason or is he hiding something from me? He had done my 6 bolt swap back in June. I did a search on mixing the 2 different oils and had come up with the opposite of what I was told. I really am in a bind here and have the car for sale. I'm debating fixing it but after all the shit luck I've had i really don't want to deal with it again. Sorry for the long post but i just need some real answers and opinions on what I could do? Thanx for all the help - Blaine
