hey guys, i have a 96 rs and sometimes it won't start up when it's been sitting in the sun.. it starts up and runs fine when it does start up.. it gives me one rev then dies out. my rpm jumps to 1000 then it does out right after. and i see all my lights, light up. like the check engine, gas etc.

i've read that this isn't a rare problem with our cars, can anyone point me in the right direction? :thumb:

My first thought was to say park it in the shade. But I will spare you my tasteless humor.

When it is not starting, I need to know if it's fuel or spark. Take a can of carb sparay which is flammable and spray it into the intake while cranking. If it starts, the spark part is ok and it's fuel related. Do this and post so I can further break it down for you.
Good LUck

I just noticed that I am really low on oil, could that be a possible cause to why it doesn't want to start?

Never let my oil get that low so no idea.
But it's more than likely either fuel or spark related.
Run the test that Old Mitsu Tech suggested and post back your results.

Ok, for 1, I seriously doubt that the sun has anything to do with your car not starting. Unless the temperature is completely outrageous. Check and make sure that your spark plug wires are runing in the right sequence. If you don't already have 1, get yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual and check your spark plug wire sequence, 9 out of 10 times, if a car is not starting and has idle issues, its something electrical so make sure your battery cables are tight and secure.
