(and not to sound like an idiot..but could a blown valve cover gasket be the problem?)

Fill a spray bottle with soapy water and spray everything in the turbo system while you add air, just look for the soap to bubble. You should pull the hose off at the throttle body and plug it (find something that fits in there and clamp it) then try the test again to see if you still have air hissing. if you dont then you know you have a leak somewhere besides the turbo, intercooler, or hoses. It could be a turbo compressor seal, an intake manifold gasket, a throttle body gasket, a leaking egr valve, a bad throttle body seal, etc. The first thing to do though is narrow it down to the turbo/piping system or the engine area. :dsm:
