Ok i just had my head rebuilt and a new mls headgasket put in. the head was ported and polished also. anyways....for some reason i am having oil leak out of my oil fill cap. ive tried a new cap and seal but it still flows through...i also tried a new pcv valve. any one have any ideas....???Also, what is the purpose of the boost solinoid? can i remove those vaccum lines??? i was just going to tie them together with a vacuum line connector...

The boost solenoid is the PCM's way of increasing the boost level above the wastegate's setting by introducing a pressure leak in the pressure reference line to the wastegate that prevents the wastegate from opening, and thus dropping your boost. A manual boost controller works the same way- by dropping some of the pressure from the wastegate reference line and keeping the wastegate shut longer allowing higher boost.

You can remove the vacuum lines and just run the line from the elbow to the wastegate, but you will have LESS boost. DO NOT just connect the two vacuum lines together as you will then not allow the wastegate to actuate at all and you will have a huge boost spike, possibly damaging your motor and/or turbo.


As for your oil leak, make sure there is a gasket on your new cap, make sure the sealing surface is flat and not cracked. Also make sure there is vacuum at the PCV valve (the hose didn't get crimped shut).
 
thanks for the help with the boost solinoid...ive tried all of your suggestions with the oil leak...nothing seems to work....
 
i guess its an oil leak from the fill cap, but i think it might be caused by either high crank case pressure or high oil pressure...i really dont know what to do anymore
