Wierd Electrical Problem

I searched and couldn't really find an answer. This happens randomly during the day, mainly at night. I will have the lights on, stereo, etc. I hit the brakes and the ABS and check engine light comes one. A clicking behind the stereo, i think the ecu maybe?, and then engine stutters. It will go up to around 4k and then blip down and back up, while the clicking noise does its thing. If i let it idle, its fine, but then sometimes when I stop, it dies. Absolutely no batter juice. I then disconnect the batter for 30 seconds and then reconnect. Starts fine and i go on my merry way. Rest of the night, or day, its fine. Oh and when i hit the brakes, the dash lights dim. Im thinking the alternator could be going out or possible the ecu. This just started recently too. I'm stumped. What do you guys think it could be?

Clicking behind the stereo is a sign of leaking Caps, REPLACE THEM NOW. or ASAP.
you can damage your ecm or worse if you let it keep going.

If you pull the ecm(behind the stereo) and remove the 4 screws look and see if you see them leaking, there is a place on VFAQ that has pictures of it.

and there are places on Ebay or some of the site vendors that sell the caps.
if your not electronic inclined, you can pay to get a emc with the caps aready replaced.

search ebay, they have them.

most of the problems you are talking about are from the leaking caps,
as the ecm is resetting itself.
