I Think MAS is bad

Heres my problem. yesterday I was leaving Work and accelerated down the highway. when I went down the highway the engine stalled out. I pulled on the side of the road. wound up getting the car towed 5 miles from home. Found a trouble code for, Mass or Volume Airflow Circut Maulfunction. I rewired the safc out of the airflow circut thinking the afc was bad.

I made sure there was a good connection between pin 3 from the MAS and the ECU. and I've got the car to where you can start it and it will idle just fine all day long. but when you press the gas it will stall out.

I think it is not the computer but the MAS. what does everyone else think. If so is their a affordable solution. I've heard of people using GM MAS ??? or where I could get one.
 
hmm sounds like it may be bad. as for the 3in gm mas yes you can do that but i wouldnt necessarily say its cheap. you also need a maf translator (maft) along with the 3in gm mas. i think the translator is around 200 and depending on if you want a new mas or a used one the price will vary. you can look in the parts catalog for the trasnlator i believe if not just search on a dsm parts site. good luck and search around the site about the maft
 
Yea you'd be better off getting a used one for like 30-50 bucks. New ones are around $550. I actually just sold one I could have gotten to you for cheap, but on ebay they are only like 30-40 give or take.

THx, I'll Probaly do some looking looking in junk yards, would a mas off a non turbo fit a turbo? I'll be able to take my time since I just bought a backup car and winter is getting here, making it terribly cold to work in garage :cry:
 
Actually I don't think the N/T uses the mass airflow sensor. It will have to be from a 95-99 turbo car. Junk yards are a good alternative but probably aren't as cheap as e-bay, at least the junk yards around here. Good luck searching.

gm MAf and maf-t is a very good combo i loved it on my 1g... very easy to tune and lots of quicker spool up as well..

Your stock maf is probably bad, see if you can borrow a friends and see if your problem goes away.
 
Im Still on a quest for a mas. if anyone runs upp on one im looking for one. Im just not in a big rush, since I have a backup car.
 
I put the used MAS on. It got rid of the check engine light problem with that circut, starting to think its something else, vacuum leak before TB??
 
Any ideas on what else could cause a stumbling, stall problem. Keep in mind on of the things in the last 3 weeks of driving it I've done diffrent is bring the boost up from 14psi 18psi. that why I had a theory of maybe I developed a leak,

Plugs are not that old. 4 months I am not running that badly rich.
TPS sensor?????
tested pins in ISC and they tested ok,

should I take out the ISC and clean out where it seats, I don't think that would fix the problem.
