Hi. I am dealing with a misfire..rough idle. I had a code ran and it says misfire on plug 3. I replaced all the plugs today (NGK) and plug 3 was ruined. I also put in new wires. The car still sounds like a subaru. I am wondering if it could be the coil or injector? What are all of my possible problems and what do I do to correct it...I only have tomorrow to do this so please help me if you can! Also, is it safe to drive? I need to drive it to the shop...
Thanks for any help at all!

When you say 3 was ruined, what do you mean exactly? Was it burnt, melted, oil fould? If it was melted, your piston could look the same way and have no compression. That would make it sound like a subie. I would start with a compression test before I started chasing other problems.

This is the exact same thing that happened to my gsx when I burned an exhaust valve.

Like 92awddsm said do a compression test.

What was going on before you started getting the misfire?

As far as driving it ehh I wouldn't drive it any more than absolutely necessary, (burned valve, you are just dumping raw fuel out of cyl. 3, holed piston all that fuel and junk is going into your engine, not a good thing)

And being thats its been a week you may have already found the problem.

So just curious of whats going on.

Well my friends...
I got the compression test. Cylinder three read 2lbs. Very sad. So now I just wait until I can get the car into my mechanic and I'll get the f'n thing fixed. I don't even try to think about it anymore...it's pointless. I could vomit right now. :barf:

is your car continually running like shit or is it only some of the time?

what can a bad injector do? basically i'm wondering if a bad injector can throw a misfire code?
