this is probably a dumb question but, is it harmful to my car to drive with overdrive off for an extended period of time? i am still waiting to receive the parts to fix the problem with my transmission, but since i can drive fine with overdrive off, will it further to problem to do so?

I think Mitsubishi suggests driving an Automatic car in the O/D off if you are driving around town and on short trips. They only suggest using O/D for highway driving and long cruises.

Overdrive puts your car into a "5 speed" mode by changing the gear ratio and bringing you down a gear. it can be used on highways for gas milage or when aproaching hills to climb with ease.
