Refrencing my 92awd. I looped this line because I modified my 92 to have a oil cooler and a oil-cooled turbo so these lines are no longer needed. When I was driving to work, the line I had on there broke. I went to autozone real quick and put a sturdier line there just to get me to work. So I need to make sure before I drive home today that it is ok to run the lines in this matter. My concern is, did the original break due to old wear? OR did it break because both of those outlets are "Coolant Output" lines, causing a pressure-buildup point? I just don't want it to bust on the way home or til I get a chance to weld those two nipples flat.

Thanks,

The top hose is for the coolant resevoir. You def don't wanna cap that off its needed to vent pressure into the resevoir. The pic kinda sucks so i can't tell you where to tee it into.

No, on a 92-94 theres a line that points out on the top half of the thermostat housing that I believe goes to the 7bolt coolant-cooled oil cooler. I redrew the picture so you don't mistaken that nipple for the resiviour nipple. Anyone else with any ideas?

Without getting into allot of detail on your drawing, just take some stainless steel braided line between those to nipples. Make sure that the line is cut clean so the ends don't fray. Leave a couple rounds of electrical tape around the ends and use some econofit hose clamps from Earls Plumbing. A -6 hose should work just fine. The line ended up bursting because it wasn't a reinforced line designed to handle the pressure or the hose clamps you used were to tight and cut into the line. Nothing to do with inlet/outlet. :dsm:

The line that burst was a factory line used with OEM clamps. If it has nothing to do with In/Out then that means its due to an old, worn hose. Since no one knows I guess I'll find out on the drive home.

Most of the original rubber hoses on the DSM's are extremely old, it was probably its time to die anyways. So it sounds like you answered your own question. Try the stainless braided line when you get the chance. :dsm:

Yup- I used -8 SS braid on my coolant lines (but my turbo is still wet). Otherwise, yeah, you can loop those.

or just do the easy thing, put a length of tube on each nipple that will allow you to screw a bolt into each end of them. Make sure the bolt actually screws itself into the tube and hoseclamp it if you want.

Thats the reason why DSM's have problems in the first place. Do the job right the first time and you don't have to go back to do it again later. Putting bolts in rubber lines should only be used as a temporary solution to a problem for a car that needs driven immediately. :dsm:
