Ok guys,
I need some help here. I'm very new to the dsm scene. I just got my first dsm this past week. Its a 98 GST. Anyways, the other day I was driving home and I went to pass someone. I was in 5th gear and down shifted to 3rd. It put me at about 4-4500 rpms. As I gave it gas, it wouldn't go anywhere, it just sat at 4500 rpm and did nothing, but when I shifted to 4th, it began to slowly accelerate. Then, when I'm driving around in the city, if i get on it in 1st or second gear, as soon as it gets around 5500-6000 rpms, the tach goes all over the place and the car feels like it's misfiring. I searched and searched for days on the forums and figured it was a boost leak. I built the boost leak tester shown on vfaq.com set it up today, but the car never held even one psi in the pipes. So I simply replaced the couplers that looked bad, which were on the inlet and outlet of the factory intercooler. Someone help me out and give me some ideas as to what to do. Im still having this problem and I'm at a loss. Thanks guys. And sorry for the long post.

what where you using to pressurize the boost leak? did you hear any hissing/air leaking? Use a big air compressor if you arent already. If your leak is that bad you will need more than a little tire pump or cheap wal-mart tire compressor.

Yes, i purchased a bike tire pump from K-mart. I guess that wasn't sufficient. So I need to find a large air compressor? Will the leak hiss quite loud, in otherwords, will it be easy to pin point? Also, I have a Greddy BOV, should that be cranked all the way to hard, or soft, in the middle? It was already on the car when i purchased it, so i dont know what it was set to. So do these symptoms sound like it's a boost leak? Thanks
Devin

you will definitely hear the leak. Also take a bottle of soapy water to spray on suspicious areas and watch for it to bubble. If you have access to a stethescope you can use it to hear exactly where the hissing is coming from.
