headlights want to quit on me

yesterday i was driving home and i was driving through the backroads with my high beams on and when i went to turn them back to low beam the completely turned out (i didnt hear the flip up lights go down and shurly didnt see them go down let alone anything.) so i turned them back on real quick and they did so then i quickly tryed again to turn them on low beam and it seemed to work fine. after experimenting for awhile i found out that if the high beams were on for a few min. then when i went to turn them back on low that would happen and im about to go check out the wiring for a short and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas what else i should check.

Check the headlight relay, inspect the bulb sockets, suspect the actual switch in the column and its wiring connections. Make sure your headlight grounds are clean.

Make sure all your connections are good and nothing is coroded also
