Well, the other day I did something I haven't ever really done before- I dropped my car off at the shop and said "I don't know what's wrong with it." Kinda sucks, but I had it coming. I went through the Evo3 16g install from hell a couple weeks ago (1 helicoil, 1 ez-out, 3 taps, 1 die, 2 coolant/oil changes, 1 custom weld job, 1 custom oil feed line, 1 battery terminal, several gaskets, etc etc etc
) and the car still had some sort of boost leak (late boost). I figured it was leaking out of the newly installed 550 cc injectors, because I got them from a private party with some suspicious-looking gaskets that didn't seem to fit quite right. I replaced all of the larger injector o-rings, leaving the smaller ones on top. It spooled earlier, but still way too late. I was way tired of working on it, so I just said forget it and decided to drive it for a while with no boost. After a couple weeks I was just cruising down the freeway and saw some grey smoke in the mirror. Exited and popped the hood, and I was greeted by more smoke coming from the rear of the engine, near the injectors. I didn't really feel like sticking my head in for an investigation while it was smoking, because I like my face. After a little while I nursed it to a shop and left it overnight. When I went back to tell my long story to the tech, the only new thing that I really noticed under the hood was a slightly larger puddle of oil in the spark plug well. He said they'd call me after they did their 1.5 hour diagnostic on it, but I haven't talked to them yet. I guess this is all just a big vent / confession, but I'll definitely keep everyone posted once I hear from the shop.

Horrible 16g install, car had boost leak. Driven w/ leak for a couple weeks, then random grey smoke. Dropped off @ shop, haven't heard from them yet.

You took your car to a shop for a simple boost leak test?
All they needed was 4 2x4 blocks.
