alright guys, i'm running really lean. i mean, my light show is hardly reading anything it's so lean. but i know the gauge works because if you tap the gas or sometimes when i'm slowing down, it will read stoich, but that's hardly ever. i even added +30 on the safc and it still reads one bar maybe 2 on lean. i have a cel, my downstream o2 sensor, but what i'm wondering is if i get a new one (which i plan to do, just don't have the funds right now) will that fix the problem? if not, what else do you guys think could be the problem? thanks

I'm pretty sure the downstream O2 doesn't have much to do with fuel mixture, thats what the front one is for. Also, if your just tuning by your little blinky A/F gauge, STOP, they are horrifically inaccurate. Get a logger, go from there. Or if you really want to use an A/F gauge, get a wideband O2 setup.

Think about it, if your adding 30% more fuel, and your blinky piece of crap is still saying your lean, something is wrong with the blinky piece of crap. Either that, or your fuel injectors fell out.

My son had a blinkie piece of crap, lasted 2 months!! :tease:

Wow. Number one. Get your o2 sensors fixed. Your a/f ratio gauge is reading voltage from it. If the o2 sensor is bad, so will your reading be. Number two. Why would a logger be anymore accurate with o2 voltages. It's still reading off of the same o2 sensor, showing voltage. The gains with a logger is being able to read IPW, Knock, etc etc. Number three. Your adding 30% throughout your whole RPM range? :barf:

Get your car top notch. Maintnence before modding. Get yourself to new o2's and report back to us.

My 1g laser blew the engine out 3 months after I bought it and it had a LOT to do with it running really lean. I don't know much about the turbo's, but you should really check your barrometric pressure sensor ( barrow sensor). Even though my check engine light was never on, both my o2 sensor and my barrow sensor were both junk. I had them replaced and my laser didn't seem like it was working itself to death. Another fix that really helped the lean/rich mix was a little screw on the top of my fuel filter that had a little hole in it. My brother adjusted that screw one way or another, not a lot either, and my car runs without a struggle. I hope this helps.

i had to replace my O2 sensor the other week, the upstream sensor, while doing so, I noticed that the shop that installed my turbo back exhaust eliminated my downsteam O2 sensor. Once i replaced the upstream sensor, my A/F gauge started reading just fine, I taped into the ecu. don't know which one you A/F gauge is taped into. but i would assume that its the upstream sensor. A data logger is the way to go though, A/F gauges are really cool looking, but really crap when it comes to judging if your running lean or rich, just a really nice light show. I honestly don't know myself why the downstream sensor was eliminated at the shop...but it hasn't given me any problems and the CEL I had was for the upsteam O2 sensor
